The Effects of Sugar on the Brain

According to this article: Junk food can junk your memory in a week, suggests new study

"[...] rats fed a diet high in fat and sugar had impaired memory after just a week.
The researchers also found that the results were similarly poor for the rats fed a healthy diet but given access to sugar water to drink."
The mere presence of sugar - even when fed a healthy diet - had a detrimental effect on these animals' brains. This would suggest that our salads, loaded with anti-oxidants and vitamins, would not cancel out the effects of the dessert we usually consume after a meal. Again, the problem is not the absence of vitamins and minerals, but the presence of sugar in our diet.
