Fats versus Oils

The animal fat versus vegetable oils is going on. For more information, please watch this presentation by Dr Miller (Professor of Surgery, Cardiothoracic Division, University of Washington). I think this video makes it clear that saturated fat is the winner.

Enjoy Eating Saturated Fats: They're Good for You.

As this video explains, our modern healthy diet became:
  • low in fat
  • saturated fats (animal fat) replaced with polyunsaturates (vegetable oils)
Unfortunately, chronic diseases (heart disease, cancer, etc.) reached epidemic levels, implying that current healthy dietary advice might not be as healthy as they appear to be.

This quote from the article wrote by Dr. Dwight Lundell, summarizes it very well:
"The injury and inflammation in our blood vessels is caused by the low fat diet recommended for years by mainstream medicine."

You can also check out this traditional Hungarian "recipe": lard (from pastured pig) and onion, prepared to be roasted over a campfire. Really delicious!
